I had a great time last Sat. We had our Comic Community Conversation (C3) at Dragon's Lair (thanks Angie/Alan) and it turned out to be betting than I thought. It was Free Comic Book Day so there were a lot more people in the store than usual. People milling around looking for mainstream books (Wolverine, X-men, Batman, etc) and of course the DL regulars. For the first time in three months , we were actually able to free flow a conversation that ranged from Star Wars- Star Trek comparisons (inevitable) to a brief jaunt through the history of super hero comics. Enjoyed all the people who stopped by the table and just listened...nodding/ scratching their heads. I also enjoyed those who actively participated in the discussion.
I'm going to break out here and ask a question about something we discussed on Sat. It seems there are several differing opinions as to the duration of the "comic ages" , if you will. Golden, Silver, Bronze, Modern (post-modern?) ages are very interesting to define. Does anyone have an opinion?
My opinion is as follows:
Golden Age (1938- Late 1950's)
Silver Age (Early 60's - Mid 70's)
Bronze Age (Mid 70's to 1985)
Modern Age (1985- now?)
I'd love to hear some comments....:)
